Your SIE preparation is more than studying for an examination — it is an opportunity to start building the knowledge and confidence that can support your development throughout your finance career.
Prepare for the FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) Examination with a structured course covering the core knowledge required to understand the U.S. securities industry, financial products, trading practices, customer accounts, and the regulatory framework governing the industry.
The SIE is designed to test foundational knowledge of the securities industry, including how financial markets operate, the characteristics and risks of investment products, how securities transactions are conducted, and the rules and regulations that govern market participants.
The SIE Examination requires candidates to understand how the securities industry operates as a whole rather than memorising isolated definitions.
Effective preparation therefore requires knowledge across markets, products, risks, trading practices, customer accounts, prohibited activities, and regulation.
This programme provides a structured foundation across those areas, helping candidates develop the industry knowledge required to approach the SIE Examination with greater confidence and a clearer understanding of the securities industry.
This SIE exam preparation course brings these areas together into four core areas of study, providing candidates with a comprehensive foundation before sitting the examination.
Candidates learn how securities move through the financial markets, the distinction between primary and secondary markets, the roles of major market participants, and how economic conditions and monetary policy can influence financial markets.
Understand the principal securities and investment products encountered in the securities industry and the risks associated with each.
Candidates develop the product knowledge needed to distinguish different types of securities, understand their characteristics, and identify the risks that may affect investors.
Learn how securities transactions are conducted, how customer accounts are established and maintained, and which activities are prohibited within the securities industry.
Candidates learn the fundamentals of customer accounts, order handling, trade execution and settlement, while developing an understanding of the conduct standards that govern securities professionals.
Understand the federal securities laws, regulatory organizations, registration requirements, and investor protection framework that underpin the U.S. securities industry.
Candidates gain a foundation in the major federal securities laws and the roles of the SEC, FINRA, and other regulatory organizations, together with the registration, reporting, recordkeeping, and investor-protection requirements relevant to securities professionals.
Starting a career in finance begins with understanding how the securities industry works.
The Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) examination, administered by FINRA, is an important first step for candidates seeking to develop their knowledge of the U.S. securities industry and prepare for future roles in financial services.
FINRA describes the SIE as an assessment of basic securities-industry knowledge, including securities products, market structure, regulatory agencies and regulated and prohibited practices.
The Financial Regulation Courses SIE Prep course provides structured preparation for the SIE examination through comprehensive PDF study material covering the foundations of the securities industry, including securities products, market structure, trading, customer accounts, regulatory requirements, and the roles and responsibilities of financial-industry professionals.
