FRC Updates Its Terms & Conditions to Reflect Our Use of Artificial Intelligence

A Clearer Approach to AI, Education and Human Expertise
At Financial Regulation Courses, we believe that great financial education should continue to evolve alongside the financial-services industry itself.
Technology is changing rapidly. Artificial intelligence is now capable of assisting with research, organisation, writing, presentation, video production and many other aspects of modern education.
Rather than ignore that development, we believe in embracing it responsibly.
That is why we have updated our Terms & Conditions to provide greater clarity around our use of artificial intelligence and AI-assisted technologies in the production and presentation of FRC educational content.
This update is part of our broader commitment to transparency.
Our students, learners, readers and professional community deserve to understand not only what we publish, but also how modern technologies may contribute to the way educational material is created.
AI Is Part of Modern Education — But It Is Not a Substitute for Expertise
At FRC, we take a straightforward position:
We support the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
We believe AI can be an extremely powerful educational and editorial tool when it is used properly.
It can help our teams organise complex information, improve explanations, identify opportunities to make educational material clearer, assist with research and support the production of different learning formats.
It can also help us work more efficiently as the volume and complexity of financial and regulatory information continues to grow.
But there is an important distinction.
AI can assist with the work. Humans remain responsible for the work.
Our use of AI is therefore based on a human-led, AI-assisted approach.
Artificial intelligence does not replace professional judgment, subject-matter expertise or editorial responsibility at FRC.
Why We Have Updated Our Terms & Conditions
Financial regulation is a constantly evolving field.
Rules change. Regulatory guidance develops. Examination specifications are updated. Professional standards evolve. New technologies introduce new opportunities and new challenges.
Our Terms & Conditions already set out important information governing the use of the FRC platform and our educational services.
As AI has become increasingly integrated into modern content production, we considered it important that our terms should also provide greater transparency regarding this aspect of our editorial process.
The updated Terms & Conditions therefore provide additional information about:
Our use of AI-assisted editorial technologies
The role AI may play in developing educational material
The use of AI-assisted video production
Human review and professional oversight
The importance of technical and regulatory validation
The disclosure of realistic AI-generated or synthetic media where appropriate
Our continuing responsibility for the quality and accuracy of educational content
The full provisions can be read in our Terms & Conditions.
What AI May Help Us Do
AI can be particularly useful when working with complex educational material.
At FRC, AI-assisted tools may help our teams with areas such as:
Research and organisation
Helping structure large amounts of information and identify relevant areas for further investigation.
Clarity and presentation
Helping turn complicated concepts into explanations that are easier for learners to understand.
Editorial development
Assisting with outlines, drafting, restructuring, grammar and readability.
Educational resources
Supporting the development of quizzes, flashcards, study material and alternative explanations.
Video production
Helping us present educational material through modern AI-assisted video technologies.
These capabilities allow us to explore new ways of delivering financial and regulatory education.
But AI-generated output is not treated as automatically correct simply because it comes from an advanced system.
It remains subject to human assessment and, where appropriate, technical and professional validation.
Human Expertise Remains at the Centre
This is perhaps the most important part of our approach.
Financial regulation is not simply a collection of facts that can be generated by a machine.
Understanding regulatory material can require context, professional judgment, jurisdictional awareness, interpretation and knowledge of how rules operate in real financial-services environments.
That is why FRC's use of AI is designed to support professional expertise rather than replace it.
Our broader editorial and technical review framework can involve professionals with relevant financial, regulatory and academic experience, including CFA charterholders, CISI members, FINRA-registered practitioners, compliance specialists, senior academics and other subject-matter professionals.
The precise review process can vary depending on the nature and complexity of the material.
The principle, however, remains consistent:
Technology can help us create and improve educational material. Human professionals remain responsible for determining whether that material is suitable for publication.
AI-Assisted Does Not Mean AI-Only
There is sometimes a misconception that content created with AI assistance is automatically "AI-generated" in the sense that no meaningful human involvement has taken place.
That is not how we approach it.
AI can contribute to particular stages of an editorial workflow without becoming the authority responsible for the finished educational resource.
A piece of content may involve research, human planning, AI-assisted development, technical checking, editorial review and final human approval.
This distinction matters.
Our objective is not to use AI simply because it is available.
Our objective is to use technology where it genuinely improves the educational experience.
AI and Our Video Content
We are also embracing AI-assisted technologies in video education.
Platforms such as HeyGen allow educational information to be presented through modern video formats, including AI-assisted presenters, avatars and synthetic voices.
Where appropriate, these technologies can make it easier to produce educational videos efficiently and consistently.
Again, the technology does not replace the underlying educational process.
Our video content remains subject to research, scripting, review and editorial oversight.
Where realistic AI-generated or synthetic elements are used, we may also provide the appropriate disclosure required by the relevant platform.
We believe transparency is better than pretending modern technology is not being used.
Building the Future of Financial Education
We believe financial education should not stand still.
The professionals preparing for careers in financial services today will work in an industry increasingly shaped by technology, automation, artificial intelligence and rapidly changing information systems.
It therefore makes sense that the way we educate and communicate with those professionals should evolve too.
Our use of AI is part of that evolution.
We want to combine the speed, flexibility and capabilities of modern technology with the judgment, experience and accountability of human financial professionals.
That combination has the potential to create better educational experiences for learners.
Transparency Is Important to Us
We are publishing this FRC Insights article because we believe our learners and readers should have a clear understanding of how our educational content is produced.
We do not believe AI use should be hidden.
Equally, we do not believe that the use of AI should be presented as a substitute for professional expertise.
Our position is simple:
We support AI. We use AI. And we believe AI should be used responsibly.
The technology can assist with research, development, presentation and production.
Human professionals provide the judgment, validation and accountability.
That distinction is fundamental to our editorial approach.
Read the Updated Terms & Conditions
The full details of our approach are contained within the Financial Regulation Courses Terms & Conditions.
We encourage students, learners and readers who want to understand our approach in greater detail to review the updated provisions.
The Terms & Conditions remain the authoritative document governing the relationship between FRC and users of our platform, while this FRC Insights article provides a more accessible explanation of why we have made the update and what it means for our educational content.
Looking Forward
Artificial intelligence will continue to develop.
So will financial regulation.
So will the expectations of the professionals working within financial services.
At FRC, we intend to evolve with them.
Our commitment is to use new technology where it can make education clearer, more accessible, more engaging and more effective, while maintaining the human expertise and accountability that high-quality financial education requires.
AI can assist with the work. Humans remain responsible for the work.
That is the principle behind our updated approach.
